Margaret Peterson Haddix is a world famous author most famous for her The Missing Series and the Shadow Children Series. Haddix was born at Washington Court House, Ohio on April 9, 1964. For most of her childhood she lived on a grain and livestock farm, where her dad worked as a farmer, and her mother worked as a nurse. Growing up, Haddix lived with three siblings, an older brother, a younger sister, and a younger brother. She got a bachelors degree at Miami University,in Ohio, on English/journalism, English/creative writing, and history. Before Haddix became a famous author she was a copy editor at a newspaper called The Journal-Gazette, in Fort Wayne, Indiana; a reporter at a newspaper called The Indianapolis News, in Indianapolis; and a freelance writer and community college instructor at the Danville Area Community College in Danville, Illinois. Some of the places that Haddix has visited as an adult are Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Martinsville, Bismarck, Illinois; Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio, and Luxembourg. Haddix currently lives in Columbus Ohio. She is married to her husband Doug, who is a training director, Investigative Reporters and Editor, and they have two children Meredith and Connor. Some of Haddix's hobbies are reading, travel, swimming, bicycling, hiking, going to museums, and hanging out with family and friends. Haddix's first book, Running Out of Time, was published. Haddix has continued to write, and has written over 25 books throughout her career.
